Thursday: "Pretty is as Pretty Does" By MV
(Part Four)
It took my mind a couple of seconds to realize what had happened. Sadly, in those few seconds, I had a blank expression on my face. I only heard Clairissa’s screeching laughter for a split second before I heard a choked cry followed by a bunch of other high-pitched screams.
I turned around and saw Riley, bearing teeth and snarling at Clairissa. He held her against the wall, lifted a good six inches above the ground by her neck. There were screams, yells, administrators, and students running at Riley, trying to subdue him.
“Riley! Stop! Jeeze!” A loud shout floated over the chaos of the crowd and a rather large boy came running down the hallway. I wasn’t sure exactly what to do. Part of me wanted to let him continue choking Clairissa, but I knew that wouldn’t have been very nice.
“Call him off!” I snapped out of my daze and turned my attention to the guy yelling at me. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.
“Say something! Call. Him. OFF!” I flinched.
“Riley! Stop it!” I’m pretty sure the only person who heard me say that was myself, but I saw him glance back at me for a second before he slowly loosened his grip. He gave one last glare to Clairissa before leaving with a despaired look on his face.
The large boy ran after him, but before he left, he gave me a look of amused confusion. Which added to my own confusion.
So in this confused state, I didn’t even notice the administrator talking to me and calmly trying to argue with Clairissa.
“There are several student reports saying that you instigated his aggression by pouring a drink onto another student.”
“I did not! They’re lying! I tripped and accidentally poured my drink onto her. It wasn’t my fault.” She twisted her mouth into a pout and let out an angry breath of air.
“No you didn’t. You were laughing at her before you even poured the drink on her. I saw you,” another boy said. I looked towards him and he gave me a sympathetic grin.
“Alright miss, let’s go. We’ll see how snippy you are in detention.” I saw her stomp off in the direction of the office and toss her perfect hair over her shoulder.
“Jeeze. She seems to be a bit of a priss don’t you think?” The boy who gave his testimony laughed lightly and gently grabbed my arm. “C’mon. I have some extra t-shirts in my locker and another jacket you can borrow.”
“Umm… that’s okay, I can just go get a pass from the nurse and go home and change…” I didn’t try to get out of his grip, and he didn’t loosen it either.
“It’s your first day here though isn’t it? I don’t think it’d be a good idea to miss classes.” He turned back and gave me a soft grin pull of perfect teeth. What’s with all these perfect guys at school? This is so ridiculous. It’s like they’re gods and I’m just a lowly peasant.
